Born in San Francisco in 1975, Rita attended boarding school in England until the age of sixteen, then she went to Fine Arts College in Belsize Park, London, where she studied A level art history, French and classical civilization.
In 1998, she received her BA in Art History from UC Santa Barbara with a focus in Latin American art. After working for the Christies office in San Francisco, she went back to London and received a MA in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute. While in London, she worked for the famed British jeweler and sculptor Wendy Ramshaw on her catalogue raisonee. For the last eight years, Rita has curated exhibitions in London, San Francisco, Washington DC and New York.
In 2003, Rita moved to New York and worked in cultural advertising and branding for three years. Since then she has developed the salon program. She also works with leading contemporary galleries both in Chelsea and internationally curating exhibitions and advises select private clients.
"I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by art as my mother is an art dealer from Brazil. My goal is to introduce young artists to a network in an accessible fashion through the Salon concept. In turn, I am excited to galvanize collectors in support of buying young emerging artists."
